For example, 2³ × 2⁴ = 2⁷. When the bases match, keep the base and add the exponents: 3 + 4 = 7.

Speak and listen

Kal listens to the student's spoken explanation and replies aloud through the lesson's voice pipeline.

Write and confirm

Supported questions use an on-screen writing canvas. The student confirms the recognised expression or redraws it before submission.

Practise

The lesson includes structured practice with a self-check prompt, targeted guidance and a worked explanation when needed.

Targeted hint

Looks like you multiplied the exponents instead of adding them. The rule is, add the exponents when the bases match. Quick check, in 2 cubed times 2 to the 4, do we add 3 plus 4 or multiply 3 times 4?

Worked explanation

Same base, both 2. Add the exponents: 3 plus 4 equals 7. Answer is 2 to the 7.
